Employers Want “Work-Ready” Graduates

A recent Times Higher Education article summarised the findings from a survey of graduates recruiters.  This survey once again showed that employers were looking for graduates to be ‘work-ready’ when they leave university.  The 2020 Global University Employability Survey also reported that about half of graduate recruiters plan to invest more in their own internal training programmes to ensure that graduates have the skills needed for the workplace.

Work placements during their university courses are vital to help students become ‘work-ready’ and to develop the work-place skills and know-how required by employers.  Placements are also a great way for employers to de-risk their recruitment activities by establishing relationships with students, ahead of their graduation.

The UKESF can help employers and take the effort out of connecting with students.  We currently have over 200 Electronic Engineering undergraduates registered for our Scholarship Scheme; all these students are available for work placements in summer 2021.  If TechWorks members would like to learn more and connect with students looking for work placements this coming summer, then contact me via [email protected] or 07894 899544
