Global Semiconductor Sales Up 14.7% Year-to-Year in February

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today announced global semiconductor industry sales were $39.6 billion for the month of February 2021, an increase of 14.7% over the February 2020 total of $34.5 billion, but 1.0% less than the January 2021 total of $40.0 billion.

Mark Lapedus of trade newspaper Electronics Buyers News reports: “Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) is telling customers that they must sign a three-year lump-sum contract to guarantee capacity…TSMC’s move, which has been greeted coolly by some customers, comes at a time when IC makers are scrambling for more wafer capacity.

Degree Apprenticeship Standard – Review

It is now 5 years since this apprenticeship standard Embedded electronic systems design and development engineer (degree) was approved for delivery. Since then, several hundred apprentices have followed programmes using the Standard. This year, we have been asked by the Institute for Apprenticeships to review and update the Standard.
