Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as an ambassador for the UK Semiconductor Design and Embedded Systems industries (‘ESD’), fostering collaboration, innovation and growth across UK business and promoting the interests of UK business with partnership organisations worldwide.
  • Engage regularly with member organisations and other stakeholders, building strong relationships at all levels.
  • Develop & deliver a strong membership value proposition by understanding short and long-term technical interests and business challenges to deliver an engaging membership program of collaboration and events.
  • Develop and maintain special interest groups and working groups to achieve the strategic aims of the network and its members.
  • Own the ESD Network business plan, providing periodic forecasts to Finance Manager & CEO.
  • Plan and deliver member events and maintain regular member communications with the support of colleagues (e.g., website and newsletters).
  • Actively pursue opportunities for new initiatives or collaborative projects to further build the membership value proposition.
  • Network business development: new member recruitment, sponsorship, member promotion and other funding opportunities.
  • Support CEO & leadership team on strategy and policy decisions.
  • Act as an ambassador for Techworks at all times.
  • Collaborate with the full Techworks team to develop opportunities to deliver cross community work plans.
  • Assist with the delivery of projects and
  • Liaise with strategic stakeholders, such as government departments, institutions, and trade bodies to further the interests of members.

Location:

  • The role can be based at our central office in Livingston, our satellite office in Cambridge, or remotely within the UK. Techworks also operates a hybrid ‘from-home’ working model.

Role Requirements:

  • Experience and a good understanding of the Microelectronic system design industry – ‘from semiconductors to systems’ including development processes, design flows and key technologies, such as digital / analogue system design, hardware / software development, SoC chip design and FPGA, etc.
  • Experience in a management position.
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to work with cross functional teams at all levels.
  • Able to inspire confidence and create trust, building strong relationships with team members, member companies and external stakeholders.
  • Strong team player, able to relate to people at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Highly organised self-starter and a good team-worker.
  • Motivated to keep abreast of the latest developments and trends within Industry.
  • Ability to agree and deliver a defined set of objectives whilst meeting time and budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to respond to issues and problem solve solutions along the way.
  • Knowledge of project / business budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate, where appropriate.
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks as required by a small organisation.
  • Clear and confident communicator.
  • Relevant education and training in engineering or related technical discipline.
