Dr Paula Palade

With over 10 years of experience in AI ethics and standardization, Paula is a passionate and influential leader in the automotive industry. She is currently an AI Ethics Technical Specialist at Jaguar Land Rover, where she develops and implements ethical principles and best practices for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs).

Paula is also an Expert Evaluator for Research and Innovation at the European Commission, where she reviews and assesses proposals and projects related to AI, digital transformation, and societal challenges. She has published a report on the Ethics of CAVs as part of an independent group of experts commissioned by the EU. Additionally, she is a BSI delegate and an Automotive Group Expert on the ISO TC241 Road traffic safety management systems WG6, contributing to the future requirement standard ISO 39003 for safety and ethical considerations for autonomous vehicles. Paula has been recognized as one of the UK TechWomen100 in 2022 and one of the Autocar Top 100 Women in Automotive in 2019 for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the field.

Paula has a strong academic background in electrical engineering, with a PhD, multiple patents, and publications in prestigious journals. She has also completed MSc modules in automotive engineering and systems engineering management from renowned universities. Paula’s mission is to enhance the life of Jaguar Land Rover workers and customers by using AI ethically and responsibly, and to advance the state of the art in AI ethics and standards in Europe and beyond.
