Gary Travers has been appointed as the new CEO at Techworks, the UK Industry Association for ‘Deep Tech’; the underpinning technologies such as AI, robotics, 5G, machine vision, IoT, analytics and automation that drive the new economy.
The TechWorks team are delighted to have Gary on board. His extensive experience, vision and leadership; along with the support of the TechWorks Board, mean we are confident he will continue to drive TechWorks and its members forward at this crucial time for industry.
Reflecting on his appointment, Gary said: “I’ve been in role for a month, have met many of you already and look forward to meeting many more of you through 2018.
As a community we are strong; hundreds of organisations and thousands of people, each a point in the TechWorks network. It is TechWorks’ role to help connect you together, to share, to learn, develop, win more work, deliver more efficiently and grow. We are here to help”.
When asked about his first thoughts on the economic and political momentum for the Deep Tech industry in the UK, Gary said that given the complex political environment it is evident that we are facing big challenges, including accelerating technology developments, attracting talents and raising capital, to name a few.
“If you are wrestling with these issues or other, let us know” – he added. “There is a good chance we know someone facing similar challenges or people who have addressed your challenges in the past. There are also some challenges that are too big to be solved by any one organisation and in these matters we can really help, too”.
