Monthly Update from TechWorks CEO, Alan Banks

20th January 2022 | News

I would like to extend a happy new year to all our members and welcome you to the January Edition of the TechWorks Newsletter. Despite the ongoing Pandemic, TechWorks has continued to focus on its members and the opportunities we have ahead of us.

In 2021, we were delighted to return to physical events alongside our virtual events. NMI delivered its Annual Conference virtually in April, held its first NMI Meet & Greet in Newport, attended Semicon Europa in Munich with members and launched its partnership with Silicon Catalyst at Bletchley.

AESIN held their virtual Automotive Summit and Security Conference, and hosted its 8th Annual AESIN Conference at the National Motorcycle Museum in September 2021.

IoTSF delivered its 7th Annual Conference virtually, and launched a number of publications including Release 3.0 of its popular IoT Security Assurance Framework, the 4th Vulnerability Disclosure Research Report, Router & IoT Vulnerabilities Whitepaper as well as launching its first international chapter in Bucharest.

NMI Electronics Systems community welcomed Steve Drew as its Network Director and delivered 2 of the 3 Building Trusted AI-based Systems webinars.

We launched TechWorks TV, signed an MOU with both Si Catalyst and the Global Underwater Hub (Formerly SubseaUK) and continued to deliver our Many Secured & Escape Projects.

We ended the year with the TechWorks Annual Summit and Awards Ceremony on 9th December in central London. The Summit delivered a valuable outlook at the Deep Tech sector’s issues and opportunities and I was delighted to welcome guest speaker Lord Gerry Grimstone. A selection of the Summit speaker videos are available here.

At the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, we welcomed business entrepreneur and “Dragon’s Den” star Piers Linney to share his industry insights and present the awards. I was delighted to see and meet so many members who attended these events, and celebrate the achievements of industry. A big congratulations to the 2021 award winners and special thank you to our award sponsors for your continued support.

I am also pleased to announce that Gunny Dhadyalla has joined the team as the AESIN Network Director. Gunny joins us from WMG and brings extensive knowledge of Automotive Electronics from both Industry and Academia.

As we look forward to 2022, we have a range of activities to deliver more value to our members, our first event is Building a Trusted AI-based System: Bringing it all Together on 25th January and you can find out the latest TechWorks events here.
